We are OBSESSED with this vintage Boujad x Azilal Moroccan rug!  The base foundation of this piece is undyed sheep wool from the Atlas Mountains.  The symbols in this rug represent the female form and fertility.  The nested diamonds symbolize protection, one layer guarding the next.  The crosses ward off the evil eye and offer protection.  The triangle forms represent mountain in the Atlas homeland.  The tree branch forms at the top represent family lineage or a Tree of Life. And the small scattered squares represent homes. This rug like other Berber rugs woven by the "Amazigh" women, is like a personal diary or prayer encoding hope, fears, identity, and spirituality.  The dyed wool is lovely with cooling colors like aqua, emerald, cobalt blue, and the grounding colors are the browns and pale camel colors. The ends are woven and knotted in a washed terracotta with the classic fringe at the bottom and the flat weave at the top.  This is a gorgeous vintage piece in very soft and lovely colors and design!
